“Now all of this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet.” (Matthew 1:22)
Sixteen times in Matthew’s Gospel, he reminds us that the life of Jesus played out exactly as God’s prophets had predicted.
Sixteen times, Matthew draws our attention to the truth that Jesus’ life didn’t just happen, it followed a plan.
Jesus had choices to make, of course. They were often gut-wrenching, teeth-gritting choices about whether or not to cooperate, but the plan was there all along.
Sixteen times Matthew points out that Jesus followed the path prepared for Him, and the world has never been the same.
Maybe Matthew – inspired by the Holy Spirit – is trying to tell us something not just about Jesus, but about us.
What could happen this year if you really committed to following God’s plan for you?
The world might never be the same.
